Yellow tint

Anyone else have a yellow tint on their display?? I have it quite bad on the bottom of the display and both left and right hand edges of display running from top to bottom. Is it possible with a firmware update that this issue could be eliminated. J had read on one forum that ICS update SHOULD solve it. Something to do with the colour calibration. I have also heard that it could be to do with colour temperature of screen,  or the glue that was used to put display together.

Any advice would be gladly appreciated as this is ruining my experience with this device.

got my new set of phone few days ago and unfortunately i have the yellow tint again only this time its not so obvious but still annoying when browsing....so far i had 3 of this phone...the previous 1 i sent for screen replacement but results was the same.....

I'm from Malaysia btw. The only reason i was given a new phone was because they cant fix extra problems that i had which occur on my local service centre possession. im a bit tired to go through it all again....

Hi fathead,

Can you tell me what is the batch production of your current xperia s?

You can check it by removing the back cover of your phone. It is 2 rows below the LT26i.

For example: 12w11.

would you mind trying to charge your phone while running the benchmark application multiple times, watch movies, play processor intensive games until it reach 40 degree? i got mine to 40 degree and all the yellow tint are clearly visible on white background or discolorised with light blue/grey background.

btw mine is 12W08 with all the yellow tint all over the edge of the screen

OK, I sent my device to the retailer shop (Carrefour, Abu Dhabi), after more than 10 days they called me yesterday I went to them and gave me a new device provided by Sony Service Center in Dubai.

I gave the phone a heavy test for about an hour, using 3g/Data packet for Facebook, twitter, Gmail, Hotmail, GPS with Google Maps, gaming with "Angry birds" & "where is my water",shifting between all of these randomly! the battery app gave me that I hit 43C temperature, still no yellow tint hope things keep like this, I will keep testing and keep u with updates.

I don't know what is SONY policy regarding this issue because I saw some people here in forum are requested to wait for more than a month for spare parts, maybe my case is deffirent since I bought it from a big retailer I don't know.

For guys who bought their phones outside their residence country hope SONY have a solution 4 u guys, and yes an internation big company as SONY should provide a worldwide guarantee for their products specially if it's a manufacturing mistake.

hey... i had 12w09, 12w10,12w11...all have yellow tint...but its getting lesser with later production date... so base on my exp i can say almost 90% xperia s in the market now have the same issue or im just unlucky.... but ya this shouldnt happen if only sony recall back their defective product...i dont mind really wait for another month to have a free defective product.... u very funny sony i feel so cheated...

Hi,

My current xperia S is from batch 12w13.

The major yellow spots on the screen (the spot that appears on top of the transparent antenna, at the edges and corners) seems to "disappear".

Maybe Sony uses less "glue" on the LCD screen, but i do not know.

There's still some slight yellowish tint and uneven tone on the screen if you compare them to apple's LCD or Samsung's screen. & Worst of all, there are dead pixels on my 12w13 model. It was an upset when i thought finally i could enjoy a defect free Xperia S after a lot of hassle.

Anyway, LCD screen has always not been the strong selling point of Sony, if you compare it to Samsung (even Apple asked Samsung to make their new ipad's LCD.)

So what i think is, for batch 12w14 onwards, chances are, the yellow spots might not appear on the screen anymore, but dead pixels? You have to check it.

It seems the quality inspection of Sony is very loose.
