I am desperate to have a custom rom on my phone but the bootloader status is set to no. I would like to use cm12 lollipop but the only roms available are stock based which is limited to 4.3. I want to know how i would get this unlocked, should i beg EE/Orange to do it or Sony for making the phone have a locked bootloader? I am willing to pay for it, its just really annoying that my previous phone the xperia sp could run cm 10.2 to 12 on the locked bootloader but the xperia t which is much better and smoother cant? Thanks for any help.

I told you, networks/carriers will try to blame Sony when its their issue, I have seen this done with other networks/countries, but the carrier/network has to approve this and it seems that they pay Sony to replace the motherboard, but yeah its all about the carriers keeping you under control.
You are not going to be able to unlock it, your network/carrier requested this to be disabled, there's no way around it. Contact your carrier
Would they be able to, any idea of cost for it?
I doubt it, your carrier has to give the OK, and probably pay Sony to replace the motherboard on your phone, which cost almost as much as a new phone.
That is so annoying, if sony supports bootloader unlock then all phones should be unlockable. Wish i got a nexus now
Xperias do support this, but if they are network branded, most if not all network branded Androids have a locked bootloader, not just Sony.
I should of got sim free instead of orange. What i dont get is why xperia sp can run cyanogen mod on locked bootloader when the xperia t cant. All i want is to have lollipop and coloured emojis
Check the XDA forum, there might be another Custom ROM that might work with a locked bootloader
yere but the maximum available is 4.3
Sorry to hear that
