I updated my SP like normal, and as soon as it booted, it is so much slower than it was before, can someone please help me to fix this, or help me return it back to the older version of android, where it was fine?
Thanks in advance.

This update has already crippled a new phone.
I no longer want the phone, its riddled with bugs, the alarm decideds when it wants to go off and also chooses when to display the 'Turn off screen' for the alarm, leaving a tired, misty eyed, annoyed customer thinking I've bought the Sony Xperia Sh*t Phone, before the update it was fine and functioned, and was happily reffered to as the SP...
"Just Downgrade" - No, I don't want to, nor should I have too. I paid for something, a conciderable amount may I add... Fix it for me, or refund it. I should not have to lose my data becuase some baboon developer who cannot test software before releasing it into a world of hate and anger.
Its been well over a week without so much of a wiff of a patch. This needs to be sorted, quickly too.
Save yer breath man, Sony dont give a flying monkey about this, I have shelved my one, money lost, wont buy Sony again.
After trying the Moto G, wow, sitting side by side Moto G and updated Sony SP, no contest. Motorola can make it work, Sony can't. Plenty cheap deals for Moto G right now so buy that instead.
When you buy there is no spec about perfomance, just a listing of hardware specifications and software version. You find sites which compares to other phones, benchmarks etc, less about daily usage performance and usability. So you buy almost blindly, hoping you did the right choice. Now you discover you didnt. It is very important to learn from that.
I think this phone was too fast initially and the upgrade ensures it behaves as expected.
I had Xperia M with stock 4.3 before this Xperia SP. And that Xperia M is 5x times faster then Xperia SP. SP is crap , and i have screen flicker too that my Sony center in Bosnia cant fix.
Upgraded last w/end May 2nd - Walkman- slower, Album-slower, screen sensitivity is rubbish, other apps are unresponsive, the whole thing is utter sh!t. I have killed apps, I have forced stops and cleared cache, I have done SUS and none of this works. The phone has become a shadow of itself - performance is shocking. What was the purpose of this upgrade Sony?
This is my 5th Sony but it will be my last - never thought I'd want to move to Apple but my next phone will definitely not be Sony. Unfortunately I have to wait 18 months til end of my contract so will go back to my Xperia Ray for a while. But if this is the calibre of Sony globally now, my next TV will be Samsung and my next BluRay will be a Panasonic.
Never thought I'd come to hate Sony
Registered here specifically to say that I'm having the same problem. Please fix it Sony! This is a problem that needs addressing. I was very happy with the SP from when I got it last September, but since this last update, it runs worse than my old Arc, which got very bloated towards the end of its contract run.
Hello everybody. (sorry for my english )
I've encountered the same problems than many other users who write some of their issues. In one word : LAG. It really drive me crazy for several weeks.
I didn't have time to spend a afternoon for trying to understand the causes and the consequences... Until today.
So I begun to read all the pages of this topic, and of another one called "Xperia SP Freeze, Slow and Lag after the 4.3 update", on this very forum.
I didn't want to loose all my datas and applications. So I first tried something, read on the second topic :
Go to Settings > Applications > click on Chrome > click on "uninstall updates" (the right button)
The phone will start uninstalling updates... It take more time than I thought. And surprinsingly, it restart by itself.
Then I let the phone a little moment and restarted it again.
And it's sooo quicker than before ! Even the start of the camera is really fast. There is a real huge gap in before VS after this little very-easy-to-do setting. There is a little time to open the keyboard (text mess, for example), about 2 seconds - but nothing compared to the 30seconds (or more !) before ...
And I'm pretty sure I'll be able to improve more the reactivity by killing some tasks, what I've not done yet. And maybe get rid of the antivirus ...
I'm a simple user (I don't know nothing to programation) but maybe this could explain that in some cases reinstalling (with PCC or SUS) can get ride of the problem, but in some cases it doesn't ... (No ?) I mean, if after re-installing all you re-install your settings (with a google account, for exemple ?)
Whatever, I think that before throughing away yor phone you should really consider this option ...
@SONY'team : You should maybe propose this action to future customers coming for complaining to your "caring service", instead of propose only very-hard-to-do options...
@Every body : I'm pretty sure this is a problem NOT specific to sony. A friend of mine with a Wiko encountered the same problems after upgrade to 4.3. I'm pretty sure the probleme is from different factors, and SONY is just one of the responsibles for this.
@SONY'team again : But is that normal that we can compare WIKO to SONY ? I switched from iPhone to Android and Sony, and I am VERY ANGRY about this first experience. I loose more than one month with this phone. I hated you for this update, because I'm pretty sure that your product (Xperia SP) is a good one, and that I made the good choice by buying it... And it was very disappointing to see that this good choice was transformed in a very, VERY bad one just because the released of the upgrade wasn't controlled enought, (I guess ?)
Sources and considerations :
"Try this: simply undo Chrome updates and reset the browser to factory settings. Then restart phone.
I know that sounds stupid but my SP was very laggy after JB 4.3, and I tried this Chrome-reset for another problem, It turned out that also the lagging reduced dramatically, plus of course the original problem was cured. I think the newest Chrome updates screw the whole phone up for some reason.
Haven't had any other confirmations so far but in my case it helped alot. Try it and report how it goes."
"To solve the 4.3 issues, I tried to uninstall the Chrome updates, as suggested by another forum member, and I have noticed a significant improvement in the phone perfomances.
I don't think the Sony developers are to blame here, since the Chrome update is not part of Android 4.3 released by Sony.
So before reinstalling or resetting your phone try to uninstall the Chrome updates (going back to Chrome version 28.0.1500.94)."
Note : My version of google chrome isn't the same : it's 34.0.1847.114, so I don't think it's a criteria.
But you have to know that there is a suite for him :
"My Xperia SP was unacceptably slow after installing Android 4.3 using "Sony Bridge for Mac".
Some workarounds (such as uninstalling the Chrome updates) did not fully solve the issue.
So I backed up the phone (using PC Companion for Windows) and reinstalled the latest version (12.1.A.0.266) using Sony Update Service (SUS).
After SUS had finished,I restored the data but I had to manually reinstall the apps from Google Play.
The phone is now quite faster and much more responsive than before. Also, the amount of free RAM has increased (about 300 MB with only the Settings app running, and some widgets).
So before going back to 4.1.2 I suggest to try this way to fix 4.3.."
So maybe the 2 FOLLOWING STEPS can get the best of this release, with the first one is mandatory :
FIRST => uninstall Chrome updates !
THEN => if necessary, try the "heavy artillery" => PCC and after : SUS...
I hope this was usefull for every one.
I'll tell this to my Wiko-Friend and tell you if it's better after ...
