I had same problem with Tipo. No help from Sony (no offer to repair or refund).
This is happening because low quality SIM card socket design (bug by design).
The holder is made of so thin foil so it does not hold SIM card properly in the socket.
Workaround - put small piece of paper folded several times between SIM card and sim card holder.
It will press SIM card better against electrical contacts.
I had exectly the same problem, A small piece of thin cardboard did the trick. THANKS!!!
I have a similar problem... One sim card works properly. When i insert another sim, it shows emergency calls only. Have used that sim in another phone, which confirms the sim works properly. Why am i not able to use that particular sim in only my phone? Plz help friends...
I have had my new X5 Compact for over a week and have the 'NO SIM CARD' problem, with 2 different SIMs

(thinks.... mmmm, this is a wind up right?)
But It works!
I cut a piece of thin card just smaller than the SIM, put that between the Sim & the holder & tried it and really pleased that I finnally have a working phone - this is crazy that it is required - but works all the same
Thank you!
