@blacksb5

you can use PCC to upgrade your firmware.  just be sure to remove your SIM card when doing the update so it wont restart.  I just upgraded mine yesterday, and it seems that the reboot issue is not happening YET (I will hold judgement after a week of using the phone. The lastest version build should be 6.1.A.2.45  anything lower than that, will have the same issue..  I actually think the GB version was more stable than the first few upgrades they have released in ICS... but with this latest patches on build 6.1.A.2.45, I assume they have had a lot, tons, millions of fixes made lol

most likely it's the SIM card, yes, the SIM card, did you cut it or is it a micro SIM card?

hey there,

thanks for the respones.

yes, i cut the CIM card. besides, i took the CIM card out many times, and then tried again. but nothing happened.... Slightly_frowning_Face

and what do you mean, saying its the cim card?

I guess he means that the SIM (not CIM Slightly_smiling_Face ) card is causing the problems. If the phone loses the connection to the SIM-card the phone will restart. There seems to be a glitch with your home cut microSIM. Try contacting your operator and ask them for a new microSIM.

Here's a stupid idea which you may have tried but have you tried a repair using PCC or SUS

I have exactly the same problem onmy Xperia S (2 months old).  It keeps on rebooting.  I still haven't got back the unit since it is still with the service center, will let you all know if the same problem occurs after they say that the board has been replaced.  Question though, with the board replaced, should my phone have a new IMEI number??

Anyway, if you all are experiencing this problem.  Here is what I observed from my auto reboot case:

- With SIM card inside, it reboots automatically, at certain intervals with or without running installed apps.

- I attempted a software fix from the PC Companion, meaning it also uninstalled all the other previously installed programs from PLAY Store, but I still get the same problem.

- Without SIM card, it seems to work just fine.

- With SIM card, but on AIRPLANE mode, it works just fine (now who wants to use a phone on AIRPLANE mode???????)

- With SIM card inside, set your Mobile Network to GSM only, mine worked fine.  However, if its set to WCDMA preferred/GSM (which is by default, the factory setting), the reboot problem occurs. Now again, who wants to use a phone that can't access a faster network provided by your phone company?????

- I had it serviced in the authorized service center for a complete reinstall, but I still get the same problems and same scenarios described above.

Do note that I had already requested a new SIM card, and used it on the phone, before I had it checked in at the service center thinking that it was my SIM card that was causing the problem.  Apparently NOT!

So now, they had it returned to the main service center for further checkup, with board replaced as per followup. Will get back on this thread to update if the same problem occurs.

Let us keep this thread alive so that people may be aware.

SUS (Sony Update Service-Also runs repairs) from here www-support-downloads.sonymobile.com/Software%20Downloads/Update_Service_Setup-2.11.12.5.exe

or PCC (Sony PC Companion) Normally installed to Pc on 1st connection to a computer if not download from here www-support-downloads.sonymobile.com/Software%20Downloads/PC%20Companion/Sony%20PC%20Companion_2.10....
