How do you make a favourite contact a shortcut on your homescreen?

I accidentally deleted one of my favourite contacts from my homescreen.  A rep at a Sony store showed me how to do it, now I can't seem to get it back there.  I can only seem to add the Contacts folder itself, not a specific contact.  Help!

Long press anywhere on the screen > widget > contact > select a contact 

Don't forget to give Kudos (Click on the half star + )

That didn't work, but in the meantime I figured it out : press and hold the homescreen, then Apps, then Shortcut, then Contact and select which contact you want to use as a shortcut. Voila!!
