Activating STAMINA mode causes constant reboots

Hi there,

Another unhappy user here. I just got Xperia SP and first thing I did was applying 4.3 update using Mac Bridge app with factory reset option (before even reading about all the troubles 4.3 introduced).

Now, I haven't installed any 3rd party apps yet. Just SP 12.1.A.1.201 firmware with polish Orange branding and software.

I configured my three email accounts (one Exchange, two generic IMAP) and activated autosync. No WIFI connection configured yet (so WIFI is off), only mobile data is active.

In such configuration, activating STAMINA mode makes my phone reboot itself a few minutes after screen goes blank. Every time! Of course phone gets hot because of that, battery goes down, recent apps list is cleared.

I reflashed the phone using Sony Update Service. Same result.

How is it possible STAMINA, a function Sony advertises so much, is broken in such basic config? Does anybody else have the same problem? Or maybe Orange screw something up in some bloatware they added?

V.

Have you disable any apps?

@uliwooly:

None disabled yet, just stock config with added accounts I wrote about.

@Danial-mach1:

Unfortunately I need Exchange, can't remove it permanently. It is one of basic settings I configured on this phone.

And if you meant removing and adding it again - it does not help.

You may be right it is a culprit, because disabling autosync also stops these reboot cycles (but of course I don't want to do it permanently too). Maybe I will try disabling push in Exchange...

try find an app or somthing that can be used as exchange

and i meant remove it not add it again..try a hours or a day without exchange to be sure problem is that or something else

Thanks, I will try. Disabling push did not help.

Such bug should not pass without report. I will contact Sony support too.

Danial-mach1, you nailed it.

I didn't have to actually remove Exchange account, but because it was configured to autosync only on weekdays, I didn't have any spontaneous reboot during the weekend.

I see I can add Exchange service to whitelist and will maybe check that later.

Right now STAMINA causes so much pain in normal phone usage, I will stay away from it.

Basically I experienced much of the issues so many people are complaining here about: extremely slow reactions and hiccups for at least 15 seconds after each unlock, 1weather loading for half a minute, twice display went even black and unlock button was not working at all forcing me to reboot... Without it, I feel the performance this phone should have.

Unfortunately this thread should not be marked as solved. The problem is still there. I still can't use STAMINA, even without Exchange it makes phone reboot randomly. It is either because of some Orange branded software (I disabled all I could), or has something to do with Orange network (maybe Stamina and IPv6 used by this carrier don't like each other).

OK, now I have the real solution.

IPv6 and Stamina don't go along well.

My provider (Orange in Poland) configures data APN using IPv6 by default.

Once I added a new "classic" IPv4 APN configuration and enabled it, I had "only" two unexpected reboots in last three weeks (which is quite normal for this phone without Stamina too, not that I like it).

Battery life is greatly improved and phone is more responsive after waking up from sleep (before that Stamina introduced quite noticeable lag during first few seconds).
