Sony HTCT260H HDMI (Arc) to LG 42LW550T-ZE

Hi,

I purchased the above Sony sound-bar yesterday. I have it setup to HDMI Arc on the sound-bar and the tv.

The sound works great if I go to the sound-bar Amp Menu > Audio > HDMI > C HDMI and set this to off then back to on. After a few second sound comes through the sound-bar.

If I switch the tv off, back on, sound fails to come from the bar. I have to repeat the steps above in order to get sound.

I have the TV Audio setting on the bar set to TV (HDMI) so it defaults to HDMI rather than optical.

The connections are as follows :-

TV HDMI (Arc) > Sound-bar HDMI (Arc)

TV HDMI 2 > Sky HD box

TV HDMI 3 > Sony PS3

Obviously having to perform the above menu operation every time I switch the TV on is not ideal.

In the TV audio settings I have :-

Digital Audio Output - PCM (have also tried Auto)
TV Speaker - Off
ARC Mode - On
AV Sync - On

Any help will be appreciated, thanks.

Hi there

On the LG TV, have you tryed turning on the HDMI-CEC functions (I think its called SimpLink on LG)?  Also check the settings of it too.

Cheers

Hmm I believe I haven't. What does SimpLink do? I have just given it a go and it does the same, I have to change the option back and forward on the sound-bar.

Have a look at page 124 of the LG manual from:

http://www.lg.com/uk/support-product/lg-42LW550T#

The C-HDMI is Sony's Control for HDMI, where-as LG call it Simplink.  This is what I think is happening for you.  These are terms deemed by brands for the generic term of HDMI-CEC.  Unfortunately they are not always compatible by different branded devices.  In the LG manual, also on page 124, it says basically if it doesnt work on an audio out system, try using an optical cable between the two instead.

Basically, I think its the settings on the TV that may need looking at.

Edit: Also Page 104 explains the link between ARC mode and Simplink
