Hi. Just purchased a Sony kdl55hx853 television and am trying to ascertain exactly which types of hard
disk drive's are compatible with this set. For example would it be USB 2.0 or 3.0. compatible? Also, I believe that the USB viewer supports FAT 16 and FAT 32 file systems. What would be the best HDD's that have FAT 16 and FAT 32 file system support?
Hi there
Most HDD's will be compatible, Just a couple of rules to bare in mind - Minimum 160GB, and FAT32. I dont believe Sony recommend any particular one, but I think Western Digital (WD) is more favoured. A good one to use is the WD Elements 2TB (I have it connected to my Sony PVR, and worked brilliantly)
I dont fully know which specification of USB you have, but USB2 is more than adequate anyhow, and works in a USB3 socket (if thats what you have, but I doubt it very much though).
Ignore FAT16, those days have gone, I believe maximum HDD size was 2GB (thats gigabyes, not terabytes).
Hope that answers your question.
