Hello nancyex - Welcome to the Sony Forums

Having a netbook can make your options limited as these usually have very little in the way of expansion ports (laptops usually have a card slot which can come in handy for external adapters like iLink).

As far as I am aware from my own personal experience, trying to connect this camera with USB and Windows 7 may drive you mad! I have spent many unhappy hours trying to do the same thing in the past and I would advise one of the following:

1) Install an old copy of Windows XP on the netbook as an alternative system (not guaranteed to work)

2) If you have a desktop PC available, PCI firewire/iLink cards are relatively inexpensive and after that you can transfer captured video using a portable hard drive to your netbook.

Thanks,

Simon
