XD7005 video stops when switching to a Dolby Digital Plus sound channel

Hi,

I'm using a 55XD7005 with a HT-XF9000 connected through HDMI3 (ARC) via High Speed HDMI cable.

The problem is, when I'm playing a movie through the built-in Video app and switching to a DD+ audio source, the video playback is stopped with no sound or picture at all.

The problem came first with the latest available firmware update.

Please advice!

Hi there,

Have you tried resetting your TV?  More details on how to perform this here.

Best wishes,

Sean

Hi Sean,

Yes, I already tried to factory reset the TV.

Hi Rinysti,

Could you try connecting to a different network? Like a Mobile HotSpot for example?

Hi,

I've connected to a mobile hotspot, but it did not made any difference. The movie stops when switching audio from DD 5.1 to a DD+ 7.1. When switching back, it continous to play.

Hi rinysti

Does this happen when watching content from any other source?

If I'm not mistaken, since the issue happens with the video app, this means you're playing content from a USB device. Have you tried a different USB (device/port) as well as different files and formats?

Hi,

I've tried playing content over DLNA and USB HDD as well. The same issue happens. I've only tried videos packed with MKV (hevc and dd+).

@rinysti

Try it again, as a test, with the ARC cable disconnected, so the sound only comes through the TV.

Does the video stop? Does the sound play?

My working hypothesis is that you are trying to stuff Atmos down an ARC channel, and you need eARC-compatible equipment at both ends of the HDMI cable (which may itself need upgrading for eARC) if you want this supported.

Perhaps the TV and the AV device are trying to negotiate a less demanding audio passthrough, and failing?

But the test of not using the AV will be illuminating.

Hi Rinysti,

I totally agree with Royabrown2. Let us know if the same thing happens from the internal TV speakers.
