Hey there,
The only way my television recognizes any usb stick is when i follow these steps:
1. turn tv on
2. plug in usb key
3. The tv recognizes i plugged in a usb and asks what media i want to view, works great
I cannot have the stick already in the TV before i turn it on. The usb does not show up under inputs. If i follow the online steps. Home-> media....The media option is not there.
Its a pain plugging in the usb key each time i want to view it, especially for my 6 year old daughter.
Im sure im missing something simple that im overlooking
Thanks
Jess
looking at your tv model it appears a US one, this is the UK community referring to european tv model that may differ to the US ones..
nonetheless the behavior you describe is the android standard one: you have to open the app related to the content you are looking for and in there you'll find the selection of the medium (i.e. USB) to be read. There are workaround but this is the standard feature.
In few word, if you want to play a movie, open the video app and than the select the video file from the usb
