how can you tell if Youtube is actually playing 4K content or not?
i'm casting a youtube video from my laptop to the TV. the youtuve video has a 4K option.
but when the video plays, there is no actual indicator (other than using your eyes) that it's playing 4K.
pressing pauses brings up the info screen, which has an HD icon.

seeing as the TV is an Android TV device with chromecast (actually now called Google Cast) built-in.
so yes, i DO know what casting is.
Best let androidcentral know they've got it all wrong then 🙂

I just stumbled over this topic via Google.
I don't want to get into the philosphy discussion but I use the built-in Chromecast whenever I can as my iPhone is the much better voice search and content navigation device than Android TV will ever be. Also I want to keep the TV as clean as possible. OK, YouTube is preinstalled. So this argument probably does not count here. The other however do.
I now also realized that when casting 4K video, the Google Cast Receiver on Android TV wouldn't go any higher than HD resolutions.
