Is the Xperia Companion now completely dead it now appears to have no active functionality at all

Which device are you using the Xperia companion with from the Xperia phone?
Also, how does it look completely dead?
Did you try to install the updated version of the app?
I am using the Xperia 1 IV. The only feature that seems to be available on Companion now appears to be to repair my device nothing else! 😕 No file transfer, backup etc. So unless I'm missing something?
If the companion app can only be used o. Xperia phones released before 2019 what app is available for more recent devices?
Such software isn't needed any more for file transfers and backups, due to the presence of different cloud services as alternatives (Google Drive?).
