Xperia 1 II Android 11 screen resolution

After updating to Android 11 (58.1.A.0.921), the screen resolution of the Xperia 1 II has changed from 1644*3840 declared on your website to 1096 * 2560. This is evidenced by the resolution of the saved screenshots and the result of executing the ADB command:
Command: adb shell wm size
Result: Physical size: 1096x2560
This problem is observed not only for me, I asked random Xperia 1 II users, and everyone with Android 11 has the same problem. And those who have not yet had time to upgrade to Android 11 have a resolution of 1644 * 3840
Is this a temporary bug or will such a low screen resolution stay? If this is a bug, then please convey this information to the developers

Only annoyance for me is all screenshots are now the lower resolution.

Was trying to grab some 4k 21:9 wallpapers by screenshotting videos and noticed they now are not 4k 😔

But that's the only issue, the screen itself is still functioning as 4k in YouTube, gallery etc

How did you get Youtube to run at 4K? Application shows in "Stats for nerds" that video format is e.g. 3840x2160@60, but wiewport is being reported as 1948x1096xfalse (I am not using "stretching" to 21:9, it cuts from top and bottom).

When I tried the same on my desktop computer, viewport is being reported as 2560x1440 (because I have such display).

Regarding screenshots, on Android 10, they were 3840x1644, now on Android 11 they are 2560x1096.

Some additional notes:

... as far as Netflix goes, I have Premium plan, so 4K should be possible, but application says that my mobile can have only Full HD as maximum playback resolution (I did not test this on Android 10, as I have upgraded it to 11 immediately after initial setup).

... and as far as "adb shell dumpsys display" goes, it reports two supported modes, id 1 with 2560x1096@60 and id 2 with 3840x1644@60 with modeId 1 and defaultModeId 1.

I can understand that it has been decided to run with "lower" resolution (I have very good screen on time due to this), but having some option to switch between these would be great.

Fyi, Netflix doesn't support 4k on any mobile device.

Viewport is the YouTube ui or overlay resolution. It's the view- port. The actual content is what you select on the multi menu

Actually Netflix isn't available in 4k on Xperia devices due to restrictions from Netflix side.

Well, you wrote earlier that "screen itself is still functioning as 4k in YouTube", so I thought that screen should work as 4K when I select 2160p (4K) as source on Youtube, however, it gets "crammed" into 1948x1096 on the screen (instead of something closer to 3840x1644)... I can easily select 1440p (2K) as source on Youtube as selecting 4K does not result in anything other than increased data usage. Too bad I had not checked behavior of this, while I was still on Android 10, where the display was 3840x1644...

... similarly my desktop display/screen that is 2560x1440 does not start to function as 3840x2160 just by selecting 2160p (4K) on Youtube. It is still 2560x1440 and therefore Youtube viewport is 2560x1440.

Thank you for your time and your reply. I had perhaps too big expectations of the 4K display...

P.S. ... thanks for pointing out that Netflix is not really 4K capable on Androids.

I believe there is a difference between the phone's screen and the computer screen in the whole view, but do you face the same issue when you play 4k videos on your device not on the YouTube?

After updating to Android 11 build-number (58.1.A.0.921), the screen resolution of my Xperia 1 II has changed from 1644*3840 to 1096*2560. In Android 10 it was everywhere 1644*3840

Did you try to contacts Sony reporting this , or did you try to do any troubleshooting steps from your side?
