I"m having the same problem, the option to restart usb is greyed out and the phone isn't charging.  I plug it in to charge and the error message comes up. The only way I can get it to charge is to reboot the phone. I"m going to try a different cable and charger.

Hi @Podon81

My screen is the same as yours.

I have normal USB connections.

Any idea why one would need this setting not to be grayed out?

Not sure why it's greyed out. May have something to do with Android 10. I started using the cable and charger supplied and I've had no more charging issues. Hope this helps.

I am also having the same problem. My xz3 will now only charge via the Sony wall plug and Sony cable supplied with the phone after previously being able to use alternative USB cables to charge in my car etc.

The only thing I haven't tried yet is complete factory reset and start again to see if that fixes it... I'll post back here with my results!

I have reset my phone, but unfortunately that didn't fix the problem either. Perhaps there is something wrong with the port itself, but if that was the case then I would expect my phone not to be accept any cable!

If  certain option in settings is greyed out, even after trying to troubleshoot the software, like the software repair, this means the issue could be more about hardware.

@Flash89 I'm sure this is a compatibility issue, each manufacturer have specific power outage and input set from the wall to lead to cable to phone, to give it exactly the amount of power it needs to charge up, using the accessories which come with the phones, and don't mix between products' accessories.

@Podon81  Have you tried safe mode, or a factory reset?

Hi cosmic, thanks for your reply!

I am thinking the same, just the frustrating thing this though I have had my phone for a few years now & I have always used various USB cables to charge my phone with no issues whatsoever until now.

Either something has gone wrong somewhere in the port, or since the new android update there has been some sort of block to restrict which accesories can be used?!

Strangely enough my Sony cable now doesn't link to my laptop, yet my aux adapter works absolutely fine?

Extremely frustrating, especially as I have recently finished paying for the phone 😂

Ouchh such a sting to have it go wrong, once bills are over.

Try setting the phone for media transfer, and do you have the Xperia companion app installed?
