laptop doesn't recognise .upd file for firmware upgrade

Not exactly the greatest PC wizard so does anyone know why my laptop(HP G61) hasn't got the right program to open the .upd file and download it for a firmware upgrade for my KDL32-EX301.

You do not need to open the file on your PC - you must only download the .upd file and copy this to a USB flash drive without opening it

Thanks for the info blencogo. I said I wasn't the brightest button and now it's been proven.

There's no such thing as a silly question here.
