Hello,

I want to upgrade the RAM of my sz1xp to 2g. But I have a pair of doubts before:

1) Acording to support site the new memory module to upgrade has to be DDR2 667 SDRAM:

http://support.vaio.sony.co.uk/accessories/compat/compat.asp?site=voe_en_GB_cons&m=2160&c=10

But the memory module which has now installed is DDR2 533 SDRAM. I don't undestand this speed discrepancy.

2) When I had 2 memory modules of 1g each one, will they work in dual channel mode? Will I feel better performance with dual channel?

Thanks in advance.

Regards.

hi, i´m also a sz1xp/c owner, and i upgraded to 2Gb, i can not be specific but i can feel the great diference with the upgrade.

About your questions i found in the internet:
1) "memory was designed to be backward compatible so generally speaking, you can safely add faster memory to your computer." that´s why sony sells the DDR2 667

2) i don´t know about that, but if it does, It seems you get better perfomance: "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dual-channel_architecture"

i also had many questions when upgrading if you want, send me a private (pm) and i tell you where i bouth the memory...

bye
