A77ii dust beneath glass on sensor?

I've had trouble with a persistent grease/dust spot on the sensor, despite cleaning it numerous times. I finally sent it to a reputable local camera shop for cleaning. They have told me that the problem is beneath the sensor glass and needs sending back to Sony.

How common is this? And - any ideas of cost? I've emailed Sony support but not heard anything back yet.

Hi Michael,

I think the best thing to do is to get in touch with the Sony service centre here. If possible, they will tell you how much it will cost to get this sorted right away or at least let you know how to send them the camera so it can be inspected.

Updated to add that the camera body is now with Sony and I'm awaiting the verdict.
