Perfect! Thank you so much!

I also figured out how to change the file name on windows 8.1 to make them go in order.

When my ZR is 75% out of space, it says something like "you have used up 75% of memory, would you like to transfer files to SD card" (in my case it's primarily the photos taking up space, besides apps etc.) I click yes, especially when I am away and want to take lots more pictures. But then when I transfer the photos to my computer, they are completely out of order

e.g lets say I had transfered dsc_0001 - dsc_1000 to the SD card, now I think all new pics are ordered again from dsc_0001 and so on again.

the problem is that when I then move those pics, (which are from a later date) they end up all mixed up, in such a way that

Lets say older pic from months ago was dsc_0001, now the new ones I transfer become dsc_0001_1 and so on.

So then they are out of order, unless I sort them by date. Is there any way that I can keep them going in order?

alternatively is there a trick that when I transfer pics to my pc (windows 8.1) I can automatically rename them in date order?

Thanks.

Why don't you set up the camera so it always saves to SD card? This way, after you transfer to computer, it won't restart the counter.

Whenever you transfer the pictures leave the last picture, so next time you take a picture it will be in order.
