Microphone issue. Sound disappeared. Replacing the microphone doesn't help.

The phone is almost new. I've been using it for about a month.

The mic's sensitivity became really low. I had to speak right to the mic so people could hear me.

Because the SONY's support is a piece of crap, I couldn't use it, because I went to another country.

Found a local mobile service shop. They replaced several mics that go specifically for this model, at least 3, and every time with the same result - the gain is lost after about an hour of usage.

What could be the issue?

Is it a software+hardware issue?

How can this be fixed?

Hi @rckt;

Check if nothing is blocking the microfone hole.

To discard a software issue you can try first restarting the phone in safe mode to discard any third party app acting up, if same thing happens in safe mode and the microphone hole is unobstructed your last resort is a software repair with Xperia Companion (it will erase all the phone data with a clean installation of last version phone software).

If even after that the problem remains it is probably a hardware issue and the phone should be checked out by a Sony Xperia Service.

All the standard procedures were done.

I reset the phone, the hole is not obstructed.

The phone is disassembled and new mics were put in place. As I described in the original post, the gain becomes really low after some time. It is not clear whether it is a software or hardware issue. The phone is now in the repair shop.

Sony Service doesn't want to check my phone, because I bought it in another country.

@rckt; resetting the phone and making a software repair with Xperia Companion it's not exactly the same thing, resetting will use the same software existing on the phone.

Anyhow if the phone is already in repair shop you need to wait.

Got my phone from the repair shop. They kind of fixed the issue, but I don't like the result. Speaker makes noises and people who I speak to hear themselves. Also the gain is not that great. Not sure what they did exactly, but this definitely needs to be fixed.

Xperia Companion Software Repair gave no results. Nothing has changed.

Got the phone back from the repairshop once again. The gain is still low, but now it is possible to actually make calls. It seems that the noise cancelling algorithms mess up the signal.

I can clearly hear all the inner noises like bumping on the case, rubbing it, and any noise that can come from the phone itself, even tapping on the screen.

No idea how to go further about this.
