I've got a small question:

Isn't there a WPS push button on Android 9 pie anymore?

As @NunoSEN2 wrote, the WPS button, both for Wi-Fi and when using the device as a hotspot has been removed by Google in Android 9.0.

Hi @Safiko, welcome to our forum!

Your question has been translated to English as this is an International forum.

You can still connect to a Wi-Fi network the "normal" way without using the WPS push button by tapping on the network and entering the password it and then connect to it. As far as I know, there aren't any kind of routers that only use a WPS push button and you can always use a password to connect to the network.

Hi,

WPS push button method is hackable method and Google now days more secure. So, google removed the WPS method. But, in earlier Android 4 WPS option will be for both master and client. After they removed the WPS master option for securty purpose.

If you want to add WPS option, You needs to do the configuration in BSP.

Hi all, hope this helps, just ran into this issue at a friends house who couldnt rememeber their password but did have WPS push button ability (you will need access to a laptop).

If you have access to a laptop connect it using the normal push button procedure

open the network connection that you are now connected to

click properties (right click on it)

click show characters under network security key

use this as the login password on android, mine was about 20 numeric characters

this worked for me and i didnt see the method anywhere else in google on a quick search, hope it helps someone else.

This feature was removed by Google in Android 9.0, I don't have any more information than this I'm afraid.

Hi, sorry but when you use a extender wifi you have to click on button wps, and it's the situation I'm in, so. Is there any solution ?

You can use other methods to connect to your WiFi extender like the normal method of connecting to the WiFi network using the network password.

As @NunoSEN2 wrote, you should not be limited to only use WPS to connect to the extender as it should show up as a different network in the list of available Wi-Fi networks. Here you can just tap on it and type in the password that you have set.

hey, what if i lost the password to my WiFi, and cant get ahold of my internet provider? what else could i use besides wps

Hi @1kishima,

Login as admin to the router and then change the password, that is probably the easiest way of doing it, until you can get a hold of your Internet provider.

If you can't remember the admin login and password, you can in most cases find this on the back of the router or in the user manual. If you have changed it, just factory reset the router and it should default back to the information found on the router/in the user manual.
