Xz2 freezing and rebooting

Hi,

My Sony Xperia xz2 is barely a week old and freezes and crashes at least 3 times a day. I've started in safe mode and still the issue persists? I've also uninstalled numerous apps on the hope this may be causing the error...

Worryingly, it seems a common trait of Xperia phones.

Does anyone have a positive solution?

Well, I can say that it's definitely not a "common trait" of Xperia phones, at least not the ones I've owned during the last years. In fact, my XZ2 is operating stable and reliable for months.

Anyhow, this doesn't help you and if your phone is crashing 3 times a day there definitely is something wrong!

The cause can be a software or a hardware-problem. It would be best to rule out a software-problem first. I'd recommend backing up your data and running a firmware repair with Sony Companion (or flashing the latest firmware with flashtool), then using the phone with only the minimum configuration (do not restore a backup!) and see if it still crashes.

If it does not then install your apps and data slowly one by one, test in between, and hopefully you'll find the problematic apps (it may well be that it's something included in the Firmware, therefore the safe mode won't help).

If it still crashes with a fresh system then it's a hardware issue and you should get a replacement or send your phone for repair!

Thanks for the reply and i will try the systme repair.

A quick scan through these forums would suggest that freezing and rebooting is indeed common among various xperia models and has happened to me previously.

Hi,

Update. After performing a system repair, my phone continued to freeze and reboot. However, i tried safe mode once more and so far, no more crashing. What does this mean? That an app from playstore I.e Spotify, twitter is causing the system crash? If so, how can this be fixed?

Looks like I jinxed it, just crashed in safe mode.

Time to return the handset...

My xz2 freezed from the start, but now recently completely hangs and i need to wait for the battery to die and restart my phone. this can take up to 2 days. freakin annoying. does anytbody know something to drain the battery while you cant do anything on the phone

Hi did you do the repair through Xperia Companion on a PC? The reason I am asking, is that in my experience, having used it many, many times, it has always taken much longer than 12 minutes.

I forced the reboot with 120sec holding the volume + power button. I am gonna use the Xperia companion to try and fix it. If it doesn't crashes within 2 weeks or so put all the apps back on it and then see what happens
