What are max temps in gaming?

Hi,

I am interested in buying a XZ Premium.

What are the max temps in long gaming sessions (30 min)?

Is there any CPU/GPU throttle, which results in stuttering in games?

I had the normal Xperia XZ and temps always were like 55 degrees, which results in throttle and stutter in games.

Is this problem gone in XZp?

Can't give you the temperatures but the device gets much less warm than my XZ while charging and filming, video editing and sketching.

So, I got my new device and did some temperature testing.

CPU-Idle-Temperature is about 35 degrees

The Phone front and back feels cool

During gaming I get a CPU-Temperature around 56 degrees

The phone feels warm/hot, but I didn't notice any throttleling / stutter during gaming.

Watch Youtube 4k60fps makes the device also warm/hot

I did further tests with my Xperia XZ and XZ premium

Heavy 3D game

Gaming XZ: 73 degrees with stutter/throttle

Gaming XZ premium: max 60 degrees smooth

I think the XZ throttles to save the camera sensor from heat.

4k recording

XZ: 80 degrees (camera shutdown due to heat)

XZ premium: 84 degrees but still recording

It seems the camera sensor from xz premium doesnt overheat (hopefully) and 84 degrees from Soc is also no problem (hopefully)

I played instantly after recording a heavy 3D game on xz premium and had also smooth gameplay with over 80 degrees. But it cooled down to 65-55 during gaming. So it seems the normal XZ only throttles to save the camera sensor from heat.

xz premium seems completely stable.

Anybody knows the max temps which are possible before throtteling / app close?

I guess those temperatures are in Fahrenheit? My jaw dropped a bit till I realized that - give us remaining 93% of the world a warning! 😉

Celsius!

But this is the CPU/GPU (Snapdragon 835) temperature, not battery or back of the phone.

Battery temp on the XZ premium was about 42-43 degrees, while the CPU had around 84 degrees.

I think you can only feel the battery temp (around 42 degrees) on the back of the phone

Hm mine always shows about 26° C but maybe the app I use is buggy, how do you check the temperature?

Strange, I recently watched 20 min 4k video on Youtube and had 43 degrees C battery 😄

For battery temps I use the app CPU-Z

Ur wrong, xperia xz cpu temp max limit 56° celcius, and goes throttled to 800mhz(lag). Please fix that.
