As others have said the electronic guide and other help files comes within the SD card that SE provides. I think you have formatted or deleted the content of that SD card. Restoring with PC companion or other software will not help you regaining this document. If you had made a backup of the files in the default SD card, the guide can be regained.

What information do you want from the user guide specifically?

You can download a .pdf of the user guide to your PC and access it from there or access a user guide via PC Companion.

Once a card is formatted the files are gone. The factory repair/reset will only affect the phone memory, not the contents of the SD card, which is why you don't lose your photo's or music etc when you run repairs on SEUS or PCC.

I have a file on my SD card called 'others' that contains emanual.zip which is the file I think you need if you can copy that from your friends X10, you can open it with Astro file manager and then select the language you want. There is also one called PC Companion looks like it contains the phone manual, but I would think this is what you get when you first connect your phone to the PC and load up the companion package.

But SUZE I think he is annoyed with the useless icons, User Guide and User Support which cannot be removed. These icons when clicked will lead to an error page. This must be really annoying. I think our support forum should try to upload the relevant file in Zip format. I have a very slow internet connection and I am sure that the upload will get interrupted in midway, else I would send it to him.

Thanks. I'm already familiar with the "how to restore user guide in phone" page from the official SE site. I even went through this matter with a live agent for about 1/2 hr yesterday. She sent me the exact same link as you have posted. The strange thing is, when I got to the step where you have to drag'n'drop the zip file into the "others" folder, I discovered that the "emanual" zip file that originally came installed in the SD card, was still there.

Yet when I go to the user guide icon via my phone, I still get "Cannot find User guide on memory card. The memory card has been removed or the files have been deleted. You can access the online user guide from your phone (normal reates apply) or from your computer at www.sonyercsson.com/support."

Could it possibly be something to do with my settings or the whole "mounting" of the SD card? I can play my music and video files without any issues.

You have to delete or at least remove from the folder the original emanual and replace it with the new one for it to work.

The 1.6 maunal is not compatible with 2.1 you need the 2.1 manual putting in the Other Folder

I read somewhere else or in another thread, that someone renamed to file to just "emanual" rather than "emanual.zip" as the SE tutorial requests. I tried the former method and this time it worked without any issues.

So, basically, the steps are correct, but instead of renaming the file to emanual.zip, just rename it to emanual.

If you rename the file in your pc, it should be just emanual as the extension is hidden. However, if you rename it in your phone, it should be with .zip. The original emanual (for 1.6) that is in your SD Card should be removed too. Anyway, glad that you have sorted it out.
