When I go to Settings/About Phone then I see under Firmware that I have V1.6; when I select Settings/About Phone/Software Update it tells me that it wants to update but that this can only be done via USB cable. When I connect the USB cable on my (limited XP) user account, then the phone will not hook up with PC Companion (although XP sees the USB hardware and pops up a file browser on to the phone). When I repeat the exercise on my (unlimited) admin account, PC Companion does find the phone but when I press Software Support (to update the phone software) it tells me that my phone does have the latest software. ------- WTF? ------- (1) What do I have to do so that PC Companion will work on a limited user account? (2) Is f/w V1.6 equal to Android V2.1? Do I need to upgrade? How do I do it? Thanks!

I'd try using Sony Ericsson Update Service instead of PC Companion on an unlimited account.

http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/support/phones/topic/1.433308/xperiax10?cc=gb&lc=en

The other thing you can try is starting the PC up in safe mode (Press F8 repeatedly from a cold boot) and then select the with networking mode and try running SEUS then.
