Well, by some miraculous way, out of nothing (no software updates or setting changes done), it simply started to work again yesterday noon.

Hi! I finally got the Xperia Arc a few weeks ago. I took me a while to get the internet connection working but after entering all the settings manually as told by my provider (Orange Switzerland), things worked well. For about 2.5 weeks. Last Thursday the connection simply stopped working (the 3G/H connection; WiFi is still working, *when* there's a network available, of course). I phoned the provider a couple of times and whatever settings we tried, the internet connection didn't work :smileysad:. The provider's technicians don't know what else to do and they asked me to do a software update (even tho I have Android 2.3.2, they said, a software update might help). There starts the next problem.. I'm a Mac user and I don't have any Windows computers available. Is there any way I can make a software update?

I'd be grateful for any help, since I'm without any internet connection on the Xperia Arc and consequently basically none of the applications work

even though u have the latest os, it is possible to do a repair which basically reinstall the os.

and i'm using a mac as well so i do understand the issue here. cept that, i have parallel desktop and win xp running so i can always update from there. in your case, it should be possible to bring ur phone back to your reseller and request them to do the os repair for u. if they refuse, then there's really an issue with the service provided.

alternatively, if u can get the rom from a reliable source or if you don't mind a more generic rom, you can always use tool like flashtool. this however should be a last resort. if you need more info, head down to xda developer(google plse) and go to the arc > development section. there should be a guide or 2 there on how to do the above mentioned.

cheers

ps: i had similar problem yesterday as well. however, i later realised that the Access Point Names on my arc was changed. fixing that seems to solve the problem.

I again tried all kind of different APN settings and nothing works

A visit to the reseller seems to be the only option for now.

Thanks for your help!!!
