Sony z1 compact camera freeze

When i am taking a photo the camera just freezes. When i lock my phone and unlock it the photo seems not to be saved.

Yes, happened to me also, had to lock and unlock phone. Kitkat is full of bugs, don't know what software testers did sony hire, they are not good at all, basic functions have bugs, **bleep**?!?!

I had the same thing, I also had problems with synchronizing my files to my NAS.

This was on the 4.4.2

After a full factory reset, I didn't noticed any of these errors.

Can you make a backup and do a factory reset (you can keep your data, but your apps will be removed.)

Have the same issue after reboot the phone...

The software provided by Sony is aloways so unstable...

Happened to me also in the past days, had to reboot the phone to work again, but lost some great moments (2 deers running in front of me) because of sony's crappy software. One time even had an error that camera can't be accessed or smth like that.:smileyangry:

I had the same issue, but fixed it. Try this:

1) Go to apps in the settings and clear data&cache of the camera app, as well as any other camera-apps you might have (Snapchat, Google Camera etc.)

2) Reboot

Now it should work again!

EDIT: This fix is only temporarily, the problem keeps returning. PLEASE FIX THIS

blowing out the camera related data/cache might of done it. I tried the suggestion posted here and so far it's been stable.

Same problem. Bought this just yesterday and I had this issue on the very same day. When is Sony going to fix this? Too much of an issue for the flagship line of smartphones from sony.

The problem I believe is the quality of the SD card.... you need an SD card of the 'Ferrari' persuasion... class 10 with a write speed of 20MB/s

This is a super high quality canera in this phone and it needs an sd card to match.

I've tried a low end cheap slow sd card and sure enough on the second photo taken immediately after the first the camera freezes because the first shot is still being written to the slow speed card.

I use this one.... no problem whatsoever....

i can reproduce this issue now while shooting photos - it happens almost every time when i try to shoot a photo via ingress - the camera just freezes

to resolve the issue you have to lock the screen, unlock it, exit ingress, restart ingress and try it again - after a few tries it works

this is really annoying

while taking videos this happens even if i try to record them with the stock app from sony

clearing caches won't fix the problem

I am also having this problem on my Song Z1 Compact and have been for a few weeks now. I have tried all of the above advice and it has not fixed the problem. I also get a black screen when trying to use the video camera. It does sometimes save the recording but you can not see what you are actually recording when recording it so just have to hope the camera is in line with what you want to record. When are sony going to release a fix for this issue as it is getting rather frustrating now? I have missed so many moments such as my mums 50th photos and my sons first steps as the camera froze and i have lost all those irreplaceable moments. Thanks

I am having exactly the same problem!

I cleared cache (solves it for a couple of days)

started it in safe mode (no difference)

factory reseted it (solved it for 2 days.

I haven't been able to take two pics in a row for 3 weeks now.

this is outrageous.

I have the same probleme since KitKat. Sometimes the camera works fine and i can shot several pictures. And some times it freeze after the first pic without saving this. A restart of the phone resolve the problem but that's surely not a solution.

The solution with a faster SD-Card is not possible, because i save the pics on the phone, and not on the SD-Card.

I need also two other answers:

How to delete the App AR-Effect?
Why needs the camera App several seconds (3-5) to start?

Any update on this? Haven't tried the camera for quite some time now. But tried it out because of this post. And sure enough it just froze. Wouldn't want to keep people waiting on their poses just to clear the cache and reboot the camera all the time. Surely wouldn't want my new phone to be called a wood phone.

Yup the problem is still there and it is really frustrating. Makes you miss moments when you really need your camera to work.

I would say this is a major disadvantage of this phone at the moment. Fix this soon, Sony!

Sony obviously don't give a toss, too many complaints without any action taken, I've had this problem for a week now none of the advice above has worked at all. I was warned the camera was crap on this phone. Disappointing from sony
