i downloaded contacts from old phone but need to edit them on new phone. how do i edit contacts on xperia p

you can edit them on your phone

open the phonebook > select a contact > menu > tap on the icon with a pencil

the best way to do this is

sync your phone with gmail > on your computer access your gmail > contacts > edit them

on your xperia

open your phonebook > menu > filter > uncheck them all and only select google contacts.
