Problems After Update?!!

Hi all!

Well first of all 2.1 looks great if nothing!

but some issues!

1- no ftp service for bluetooth

2- contact picture is shown in a crappy way when that contact calls or you call them

3- I cant root the device!

4- still no right to left decodeing and fonts!

5 the facebook sync is not perfect and not even operational it simplly messes up ur contact lisT!

anyone can offer any help?!

1. You can get a free app from the market, if you have access to it, called Bluetooth File Transfer. I haven't used it with 2.1, but it worked very well when I tried it out with 1.6

2. Not sure you can change the way the picture is displayed, but can you see it anyway when you're talking to somebody...?

3. Not something we can discuss here, but there are some clever XDA people who might be able to advise you, You would invalidate your warranty by rooting, so tread carefully if you decide to do this.

4. For Arabic and so on? There might be an app to help you out, but I don't know.

5. How so? have you 'long-pressed' on contacts' names and used the join contacts facility?

I have just updated my x10 after backing up.

the problem now is it fails to restore my backed up info

Can anyone help?

What information are you missing

Your phone settings will be different becasue its a different software some will still be ther but you will need to go though them

Your market apps will be on the market but you have to download and install again

If your contacts are not showing open the phonebook, tap the top left graphic of the three people tap phone contacts

see if all contacts is ticked, if it is untick and retick it, if it isn't just tick it then use the back key to exit and see if they appear.

It is the contacts that I am unable to recover.

there doesnt seem to be a "left graphic of the three people tap phone contacts" in my phone book

Another issue that could be related is when I try to import my contacts from my Sim card it only does it partially and saves one contact at a time

Which x10 do you have

Are your contacts backed up to sony ericsson web site.

You definitely have 2.1, I trust? For example, you now have a horizontal swipe thing to unlock the phone, rather than the pretty arc-shape under 1.6? If so, when you press the 'Phonebook' icon, you should get a screen with the few contacts you now have, and with four options at the bottom - namely Phone, Call log, Contacts, and Favourites. At the very top of the screen, right under the status bar, there should be a search box in the centre, a silhouette of a person on the right, with a + sign, used for adding contacts, and on the far left there is another icon. I didn't see it as being three people at first, but if there's something there, press it and you will be presented with various options for displaying contacts, under a number of headings, such as Phone contact, Google, Facebook, etc. Tap on each of those options and ensure that the 'All contacts' button is ticked. By playing with those, you should with any luck be able to restore your contacts in the contacts list. I hope this makes some sense and helps.

I believe you have identified that I am still using 1.6. I still have the arc to unlock the phone... I have installed the PC companion 2.1 but my phone is still the same???

any sugestions on what I am doing wrong?

I just checked for upgragdes for my phone and it says I have the latest version. however my firmware version is 1.6

About the picture I mean it is shown in a pixelated way! so very low resolution! it is very sad cause in the 1.6 you could have a perfect pic when a contacts called u!

And yes i know the long press thing! but it confuses the contacts some way! maybe I am the problem having 500+ contacts on FB and 400+ contacts on the phone and 1000 contacts on Gmail! :smileygrin:

I searched and nth for arabic or farsi! I think these SE geeks should provide sth like that fo us!

Hey is there an app to replace the dialer interface?! sth like what is available for texting?!

Ah, that explains it! Not everyone yet has 2. 1 or is able to get it. Some people are still waiting for their service providers to make their changes to the software and will be getting it around the end of the month. You should get a notification when on your phone when the update is ready. Or you can check on the Sony Ericsson product blog, which has a list of customer product codes that are already eligible for the update. Try to Google for the link. I would normally list it, but I'm sending this from my phone and can't get the link at the same time. You can also go to Settings on your phone and then to (from memory) About phone and Check for updates.
