Connecting xperia S to Linux box using USB

As there is no mass storage mode in sony xperia S.

But is there any way I can transfer files between phone and my linux machine?

I use an application called Airdroid which work over wifi but isnt convinient all the time. I wanted to transfer data over cable.

So is there any way?

I have had a bit of a hunt around the net and there seems to be a few ways to do this. Unfortunately as I am not familiar with Linux I would not be a lot of help but some people at the below link seem to have it sorted:

It does not work with xperia s.

sony xperia s get detected as /dev/sg* (eg sg0,sg1,sg2... etc) on linux box. But its not possible to mount it anywhere.
I tried "sudo mount.mtpfs /dev/sg0 /mnt"

also tried "sudo mount -t mtpfs /dev/sg2 /mnt".
Not working...

Just install

1. libusb-dev

2. libmtp

and

3. mtpfs

and connect your phone to ubuntu machine...
tried on ubuntu 12.04, 12.10 and 13.04. It worked greate.
