Problem with keys locking whilst in car cradle

Hello all

I have a simple car cradle that I use to view GPS whilst driving. Unfortunately after few mins of driving, the three keys at the bottom lock up - touch screen and power buttons still respond but I cannot menu/home/undo with any of the three keys. If I take the X10 out of the cradle - tilt it back to the level then the keys work again!

Could this be to do with the accelerometer sensing the car vibration in this mode and some 'shake' event in the configuration locking the keys??? If so is there some setting that allows to not lock the keys???

Anyone else have this problem or not?

SE - pls tell me what I'm doing wrong???

Not sure that this will help, but could you turn off the accelerometer(Settings - Sound & display - Orientation) whilst you're using the cradle, to see if that makes a difference?

Or might it possibly be that the cradle is somehow pushing a button on the side of the phone and that is causing the problem? If you haven't already done so, try using the GPS without using the cradle and see if the problem goes away.

Thanks for that reply - yes it was the foam on the side of the cradle pushing the camera key! :smileygrin:

I also read in another post about locking keys that if the camera key is kept held down for too long then it tends to lock up the lower buttons!

Similar bottom 3 key locking problem. Only way to unlock them and use the keys is to pull battery. Keys then work for two minutes and then lock up again.

are you using a protective case? if you are it might be too tight and it's causing your phone to act up

do you have android 2.3.3?

settings -> about phone -> android version? if you don't use

you can use Update Service or PC Companion

make sure you backup everything, don't rely on the backup & restore app

How to install it

You need to

go to settings -> applications -> check unknown sources

download IO File Manager

download the backup & restore app, transfer it to your SD card, use OI file manager to find it -> tap on it -> install it

Contacts

just to play it safe sync your contacts w/ google if you haven't already

open your phonebook

press MENU button -> tap on Send Contacts -> select all -> send it to your email

on your computer

-> download the file -> go to your gmail -> click on contacts -> click on more actions -> on the drop down menu click on "import" -> choose the file -> and click import

Apps

Don't worry so much about backing up your apps

on your computer go to

market.android.com -> log in -> click on My Library -> and send all your apps to your phone

SMS/MMS

if you don't want to use the backup & restore app then

Install "backup SMS" to back up your SMS and MMS to your Gmail

there are some networks/countries that won't release the update, if your country/network is one of them

No tight case. Currently no software loaded; thus Android version does not show up under "about phone".

I thought it was a software problem because it is always exactly 2 minutes after re-setting the battery that the keys lock up and don't function.

Now I can't get the wostware to reload. Both Update and PC are not working. Part of the problem is that I have to pull the battery in order to get use of the back key and thus go thorugh sequence of turning off phone, etc then re-plug while holding back key before bak key becomes non-functional.

What is the difference between setup 2.11.9.6 and other numbers like 2.11.713.exe?
