Remote control backlight not working

Hello,

I have a new Sony Bravia XR-55A80L and I'm using the "simple" remote control (few buttons). It has a light sensor, but the backlight doesn't work. What do I have to do to activate the backlight feature?

Hi @augmatic If the TV should come with a backlit remote, then take it back to the Retailer and demand a replacement that works properly. They probably swapped your remote for another customer!

Edit: I have just checked mine, it doesn’t have a “light” sensor, it has a “movement “ sensor. It lights up when I move it.

Hi @augmatic, this model isn't supplied with a backlit remote control. The backlit controller model number is RMF-TX611E, is this the one that came with your TV?

Hi @h9.kdh What is the full model number of your TV and/or the Remote? The TV model number will start with XR or KD. The remote will probably start with RM.

What TV do you have?

Do you know the model number of the remote control.

Take the battery cover off and look at the label at the bottom left you should see the model number,

my XR42A90K has the RMF TX 9000U backlit remote.

Try pressing and holding at the same time the Volume - (minus) button and the Home button for two seconds

the microphone LED should blink, after two seconds the Backlight should either be activated or deactivated.

TV is just out the box

Sony Bravia XR-55A80L and Remote is TX810U

Tried the holding down Volume - button and home for 2 secs but no LED lights up or backlight working

Hi @h9.kdh I’m afraid that you needed the XR-55A95L for a supplied backlight remote. The RMT-TX910U has a backlight, the RMT-TX810U does not have a backlight. The supplied remote matches the series, 8 or 9.
