Bravia A80J doesn’t pick up PS5

Hi all.

We’ve just bought a Sony Bravia A80J, when we were in store the assistant said that the TV should automatically pick up the PS5 when it’s plugged into the TV to get the best picture quality, but when I’ve plugged it in it just recognises it as ‘game’. I’ve seen some YouTube videos which show that the TV has picked up its PS5 on the source list. The picture looks good but not quite as sharp as it did in the shop.

Has anyone else experienced this? Does this sound right? We’ve tried plugging it into both HDMI ports 1 and 3.

Hello @lucyrosepainter,

as far as I am concerened you have to use either HDMI 3 or 4 and set them to "Enhanced" format to get the full capabilites: https://helpguide.sony.net/tv/iaep1/v1/en/04-09_02.html?hl=enhanced

Hi,
I would recommend to try another HDMI 2.1 cable, and make sure that enhanced HDMI signal format is on.
