Hi All

Silly question time here but I’m struggling to understand how to correctly connect my equipment above correctly.

i want to wired it ready for 8k content ( yes I know it’s very limited right now )

I have currently the Denon connected using the EArc out of the receiver into the ARC ( HDMI 3 ) on the TV.

Now how do I connect the PS5? The Denon has an 8k input on the back can I use this for the PS5 or do I have to use the dedicated HDMI 4 8K port on the tv?

if I connect the PS5 to the TV directly will the audio still come out of the AV amp even though I’m using directional HDMI cables with the flow travelling from the receiver ( OUT ) to the TV ( IN )

Thoughts and diagrams welcome please

HDMI cables are not directional, but the ports usually are, except for when using ARC functionality since ARC essentially "sends back" audio to the output port of the audio system.

So reductively:

TV HDMI IN -----> Denon HDMI OUT includes TV HDMI ARC -----> Denon HDMI ARC as an extra channel. (ARC is short for Audio Return Channel).

I believe it was initially designed to negate the need for an additional Optical cable to be used with HDMI for cases like these.
