      <title>Release protection USB HDD</title>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;I have &lt;SPAN&gt;inadvertently&lt;/SPAN&gt;&amp;nbsp;protected a recording from Freeview on my HDD connected to the REC USB of my Sony XE90 65" TV..&lt;BR /&gt;When trying to delete the recording I get the message 'To delete,&amp;nbsp;&lt;SPAN&gt;release the protection first' but I cannot find a way to do this.&lt;BR /&gt;Any help would be appreciated.&lt;BR /&gt;Thank you.&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

Display the &lt;STRONG&gt;Recorded Title List&lt;/STRONG&gt;. In my case &lt;STRONG&gt;[Guide]&lt;/STRONG&gt; move left and select &lt;STRONG&gt;Recorded Title List&lt;/STRONG&gt;.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;2. Highlight the protected recordings and then press &lt;STRONG&gt;[Action Menu]&lt;/STRONG&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;3. Move down to &lt;STRONG&gt;Protect&lt;/STRONG&gt; and select it.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;4. Tick or Untick the recordings you want to Protect or Unprotect.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;5. Make sure you select &lt;STRONG&gt;Set&lt;/STRONG&gt; to save your changes.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

I found it straight away because there is a hint displayed bottom left on the screen "The ACTION MENU button: Delete or sort titles, etc.". Go To Solution.’ bar and follow the procedure laid down in &lt;a href="https://community.sony.ee/t5/user/viewprofilepage/user-id/273168"&gt;@LightFoot&lt;/a&gt;&amp;nbsp;fine posting there, which &lt;a href="https://community.sony.ee/t5/user/viewprofilepage/user-id/783825"&gt;@IanTomBower&lt;/a&gt;&amp;nbsp; acknowledged worked for him.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;If it still doesn’t work for you, please come back and tell us where it fails, and also the model number of your TV, in case it is not an Android TV, and this might explain why the procedure would not work for you.&lt;/P&gt;</description>
