Android 8 BUG: Can't close any app in Recent Apps via remote

I have found it is impossible, via remote, to close any app or all of them using the remote. It works with the mouse (for example using the Sony's app Video & TV SideView). Then pushing some buttons I am able to completely mess up it, as in this screenshot:

The bar on the left says "to drag there to enable the split screen". Obviously I am unable to drag anything..

How did you manage to access the recent apps? When I hold press the home button it opens the app channel to install or remove apps.
