Always been able to access and play programmes from bbciplayer on my Sony tv but for the past 2 weeks I have been unable to play any programmes from this app. The app is there, programmes are shown but every time I click play, the programme continually starts and stops and then buffers. So annoying. Checked all connections, even did a factory reset but still nio joy! Can anyone out there advice?

Hi are you watching through YouView ,are you connected via wifi or ethernet and what is you tv model

Hi. I am connected to wifi. model is Sony Bravia 40WD653BU LED 1080 Smart TV. No issues up until quite recently.

hi different circumstances can cause wifi to lag, such as speakers too close, where the modem in comparison with your tv is, or amount of people using at the same time. Most importantly your internet speed, this can change for the worse at any time depends on your provider. Do you have the same problem connecting via ethernet? And have you checked your internet speed. Try those first i would say

The iplayer was working fine and now all lof asudden I have this very annoying issue! I have checked speed with my provider, no issues there and working fine. Other apps on the tv seem to work ok, although I have ony checked Youtube and that was ok. Not sure about the "ethernet" (I'm not tech savvy). I even looked on the bbc website and there is a statement there about iplayer issues, but I don't know how old that statement is and if it relates to this problem or the much earlier issue regarding Sony TV's and the software upload that didn't work.

No changes made to the tv or it's surroundings, frustrated!

2016 model is fully compatable. inc green button restart i believe

Sorry, not sure what that means! I did a factory reset, the whole works and still nothing!

There are 2 versions of bbc iplayer. Standard and beta which one(if you know) is showing as using. If you are on beta switch back to standard and vise versa

Checked that also. Standard, not Beta. Never have been on that.

I usually go in through the menu and select the app. Is this a different way ?

Using green button when watching a programme activates bbc player so you can view that programme from the start. If your tv is 2016 model it can do this

Sorry, yes I get that now. The label at the top right of the screent to "watch from the beginning".

Beta version just experimental for bbc. I think it was created for 4k compatability
