control ubp-x800 with tv remote

Hi, can anyone help, i have the 49xe9005 tv with ubp-x800 and the str-dn1080, when the bluray is in operation, is there anyway to control it with the tv remote, only the volume seems to work and not the stop,play, forwad etc same for the reciever remote?

Hi, Blu-ray has hdmi into amp, and hdmi out into TV via arc, thanks

Hi @davygravy. I believe it is the other way around. The UBP-X800 Remote is designed to control a TV. Sony being the default so it should work straight out of the box.

Hi @davygravy. OK I have just tried using the TV Remote to control my UBP-X800 and it works! On the TV Remote press the Action Menu then go down to the Sync Menu. Select Control selected device and then clear the Menu by using the back key twice. The TV Remote now controls all the functions of the UBP-X800. To return the Remote to operate the TV select Control TV with TV Remote Control from the Sync Menu.

Hi @davygravy. Out of interest what speakers are you using with your STR-DN1080? The only thing preventing me from buying one is I cannot find any compact speakers to replace my HT-AS5.

@davygravy. Thanks for that. I had an extra play during half time and couldn’t understand why it had stopped working. Then I discovered the bottom item on the Sync Menu had changed to Control connected device with TV remote control. So the key in the Sync Menu. No need to back out twice, simple select Home(Menu) to take you to the UBP-X800 menu. All the functions are also on the Action Menu.

Hi @davygravy. Using the Action Menu to power off the X800 it returned the TV to the last Digital TV programme. Also the same powering off using the X800 remote.

Cheers, are you using inbuilt TV or set top box for TV, I'm using a you view box, and I'm sure it auto switched last week when I turned x800 off now amp just stays on Blu-ray, cheers

Hi @davygravy. It doesn’t matter, inbuilt TV or set top box (Sky Q) it returns to the last thing I was viewing. Mind you I am connected direct to the TV and not passing through an Amp. My Amp is connected to the TV using the ARC HDMI because it does not support 4K pass through.
